According to a recent survey by Webcredible email is the most desired service for UK mobile phone users. Out of 1010 mobile phone users questioned 33% stated that mobile email would be their number one priority followed by 25% of the votes for social networking. I just wonder if 33% (these figures are even higher in some other European countries) of mobile users want email on their phone why only fewer than 1%, with most of them already having email capable phone, actively use mobile email?

I think that the major problem with takeup of email services on mobile phones is spam. Without a good spam filter email can be unmanageable on a mobile phone, and also given the limits of data packages could also be expensive (who wants to pay extra to get spam delivered to their phone).
Even with a good spam filter service there is still the fear of false negatives i.e. the filter trapping some genuine emails.
I think that if a survey was done asking whether people would prefer mobile email over a completely spam free fixed email service I know what the answer would be.

This is true, no one wants to pay money to have spam delivered to their mobile phones. The new version of RenzooExpress allows users to set ‘rules’ about what they want to receive on their phones (mobile inbox). What kind of messages, with specific definitions about the content of the emails. This is something that the older version of the service did not have, thus making the service even more efficient for controlling spam.
